What we built into the website from the ground up to support every user.
Keyboard Navigation
Every interactive element is reachable and operable via keyboard alone — Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space, Escape.
Browser Zoom Up to 200%
All content remains readable and usable when browser zoom is set to 200%. No horizontal scrolling needed.
High Colour Contrast
All text meets WCAG AA contrast (4.5:1 for body, 3:1 for large text). Verified across light and dark modes.
Screen Reader Support
Tested with NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (Mac/iOS), and TalkBack (Android). Semantic HTML5 throughout.
Reduced Motion
All animations and transitions respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting. No autoplay, no parallax, no flashing.
Large Tap Targets
All interactive elements are at least 44×44 pixels — comfortable on touchscreen and mouse alike.
Plain Language
Content written at Grade 8 reading level for student-facing pages. Jargon is defined where unavoidable.
Multi-Language Support
English and Kannada (ಕನ್ನಡ) supported. Voice-enabled navigation in development.
Quick Accessibility Toolbar
Adjust text size, contrast, and other display settings — available on every page via the toolbar icon in the top-right utility bar.
The toolbar also includes Kannada language toggle and high-contrast theme switcher.

Found a barrier? We want to know. We commit to responding to all accessibility reports within 5 working days.
Known Limitations
We are continually improving. Currently identified limitations:
- Some legacy PDF documents (pre-2018) are not fully tagged for screen readers. We are working to remediate by Q2 2025.
- Live captioning for streamed events is currently auto-generated only. Manual captioning available on request.
- Some embedded third-party content (council websites, payment gateways) may not match RGUHS's accessibility standards.
